pretty messy

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

how many of you know someone who, when her list of things to be done tonight (if she were to write it) would be approximately as long as I-95, decides to, instead of cleaning her apartment (which would be items number 1-47 on her list) chooses instead to take photographs of her mess? And then sits down and blogs about it?

If you have stumbled upon my blog by accident, your answer to the above question is quite likely "zero." This is normal, and shouldn't concern you.

If you read my blog because you know me, the answer to the above question is, as much as this may disturb you, "at least one."

But look at how pretty my mess is!!

okay, maybe that one isn't so pretty. had to be honest about the dust.

anyone want some magazines?

the seashell on the stairs

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

There is a seashell that lives on my porch.

I'm not sure where he came from.

One day I came home and he had migrated down to the first step, as you see him here.

There are several shells that are usually to be found in a pile, sometimes filled with cigarette butts from the guy upstairs.

I really like the color combo here, and the texture of peeling paint and the surface of the shell.

stray

Since I'm creating my own definition of OOPart, I'll include this in there. I wonder if Wegmans offers a reward for having their shopping carts returned? What about if it won't come with me? It looks rather determined to get on the next bus headed east.

OOPart (or: ball in the hall)

Thursday, January 10, 2008

I just read a little blurb about "out of place" artifacts. Things that are found (usually in archeology, it seems) in places that it seems quite unlikely they'd be found. You can read more here.

I thought I'd maybe start my own category of OOPart today, as I walked past the beach ball in the hall for the umpteenth time. No idea how it got there, or what it's doing in this rough & industrial random fire exit hallway in the building I work in. But I'm really rather taken with it. And I like the fact that just today I read about OOPart so I have a way to categorize it.
